Cashel Gold Star Task Group is a community based project set up to raise disability awareness under the principle that if everyone works together we can achieve our goal of ensuring people with disabilities can fully participate in the social, cultural, economic and political life of the community.
Cashel is a heritage town with an ancient history with the Rock of Cashel, with its well preserved ecclesiastical remains, being one of Irelands most spectacular landmarks. Cashel town also has a strong and rich history in terms of providing care and services for people with disabilities and is home to two schools providing for the special educational needs of people with disabilities. Building on this, the Cashel community are now committed to achieving a Gold Star Status for their Town for people with disabilities. All local, voluntary and statutory agencies and people with disabilities themselves have come together to work towards the achievement of a Gold Star status.
The Cashel Gold Star Disability Task Group was set up in 2006 and aims to work to improve awareness and integration of people with disabilities to assist the community in ensuring all premises and activities are accessible and welcoming to all.
Cashel is a fantastic tourist destination for all and the Gold Star Task Group highlight in particular the benefits and attractions of the town for people with disabilities.
